Dry bags are a quick access waterproof luggage option that compresses its contents into the most compact package possible. The DrySpec D20 uses two dry bags as side saddlebags. They utilize a rigid core construction that keeps them inflated to prevent sagging. The D20’s attach to the bike like most other options on the market, slung over the seat then anchored to stable points on the bike.

The D28 tail bag is designed to mount with or without a luggage rack and even on top of hard luggage. It opens from both ends like a rigatoni noodle, giving the ability to pull out items from either end. The construction of the D28 allows other bags to be stacked and strapped on top for modular packing.

What if you’ve got a dirt bike or dual-sport with a high exhaust? How do we prevent the side bags from coming in contact with scorching, hot metal? The answer is simple, but in a way, revolutionary. Install the D28 tail bag in parallel on the bike.  Instead of strapping over the seat, the D20 can now strap through the top of the D28, raising your saddlebags away from the exhaust and out of harm’s way.

Packing the DrySpec's requires a little more planning than traditional bags. If you mount other bags on top of the D28, keep in mind it'll collapse the system if you need to pull things out of it. You'll want to pack your heavy and "less likely to be used" gear in the D28 like a camping tent and sleeping bag. Store more commonly used items or emergency gear in the D20 side bags, like water and first aid kits. Packed properly, the DrySpec systems are extremely stable even when fully loaded.

Some other things to consider- vinyl can generally be punctured easier than ballistic nylon so be sure to encase your tools. The openings have to be rolled over several times to ensure waterproofing and you'll have to get used to pressing excess air out before closing the systems. Lastly, there's no real way to lock these bags. Even if there was, a small pocket knife is enough for a bad guy to gain entry to your belongings.

Despite the limitations, DrySpec’s multiple size options and modular concept offer much needed and highly valuable versatility into the dual-sport and dirt bike luggage segment. MSRP: D20 Saddle Bags $174.99 | D28 Dry Bag $76.99 TwistedThrottle.com
