FLY has always been a staple in the motocross community, but more recently they’ve been coming up with some innovative gear, especially for the dual sport and adventure market. Fast forward to 2017 and the train keeps picking up steam!

Although ATGAT is the way to go whenever possible, let’s be honest, not everyone likes getting fully suited up every time you throw a leg over the bike. Say hello to the FLY Armored Tech Hoody. This casual zip-up riding jacket is more than just good looks; it’s also equipped with EVA foam in the shoulders, elbows and back. Additionally, the armor can be upgraded to CE armor with the optional FLY Racing CE Armor Kits for around fifty bucks.

The outer soft shell is made of windproof water-resistant material with a detachable hood that keeps you nice and toasty on those early fall/spring rides. When it gets hot, simply open the pits zips to regulate heat (we wish more jackets had pit zips). The shock cord waist band keeps cold drafts out, while the reflective piping and FLY logos add some visibility for safer riding when the sun goes down.

With a proper base layer, I can honestly say this jacket hasn’t left me out in the cold even down into the 40’s. FLY claims the Techshell construction is water resistant and so far the Armored Tech Hoody has kept me dry in drizzle. The company was thoughtful to build the abrasion resistant elbow and shoulder panels underneath the outer shell to keep the jacket looking clean.

Even with the armor in the jacket, it’s comfortable enough to live with off the bike, hanging around the fire pit talking with your buddies about the day’s events.
