In the world of helmets, HJC has come a long way. The new FG-17 is like night and day compared to HJC’s previous models. Constructed with its Advanced Fiberglass Composite Shell, the FG-17 was surprisingly much lighter than expected.
The newly designed SilverCool interior liners now have bigger padding, making the helmet feel more secure. With HJC’s Advanced Channeling Ventilation System (ACS) riding on warmer days is no problem for this helmet. Closing the vents makes a huge difference when cold and keeps those chilly winds off your face.
Visor fogging seems to be a common issue with helmets but the FG-17 adds a Pinlock insert (sold separately) that solves this problem. It literally “snaps” into place and eliminates nearly 100% of fog.
Overall, the HJC FG-17 is a very well-constructed, lightweight, all around excellent helmet. Having several helmets, this is my go-to street helmet for just about any type of weather. Even with all of HJC’s new features, it is still a very affordable option for full-face. HJCHelmets.com
