It seems these days that everyone is coming out with brand spanking new helmets. Take Just 1, a company that you probably haven’t heard of until now.
Just 1 officially launched at the 2014 EICMA show, and has been making news ever since. The brand signed an important agreement with the American brand NITEK, which an acronym for “New for Innovative Teknology“ and part of the H&H protection safety group. This partnership allows the Italian brand to have distribution in the US.
Just 1 and NITEK have similar goals to produce helmets in full carbon and be the only two brands to have a 100% collection of carbon fiber helmets.

After seeing the helmet for the first time at the 2014 AIMExpo in Orlando, I had to have one for the Adventure / Dual-Sport testing. You may see a resemblance of the J12 to the Airoh helmet which has taken the US by storm over the last 12 months, and you would be right in saying so.
It’s designed by the same person. Although once you put the helmets side by side, you’ll see the subtle design differences in the two helmets. The Airoh has a more compact shell design compared to the J12. The first thing you notice when taking the helmet out of the box though is its light weight. The medium size weighs in at a scant 2lbs 14oz. which is the result of using full carbon fiber in the construction of the shell.

The helmet has very a distinctive appearance attributed to its long Darth Vader looking chin bar. The bar features the “N.B.F.F.” system (Neck Brace Front Fit) that works with neck brace systems like Leatt's.
The removable washable liner and cheek pads use an antibacterial treatment to cut down on helmet funk. Venting is plentiful with a total of 9 large intake, and 10 exhaust. With all these vents it keeps plenty of fresh air coming in, with more than enough exhausts vents to take away the hot air.
The visor may seem a little big to some. But, I didn’t experience any excessive noise or wind catching effects. All in all the Just 1 is a great value for the money. The brand will be available through your local Tucker Rocky dealer late 2014. MSRP: $449.99 JustOneHelmets.com.
