After spending three days riding on- and off-road, straddling Suzuki’s stock gel seat on my 2006 DR650, my posterior told me it was time for an upgrade. The new Moose Racing Adventure Seat was exactly what I was looking for. With the added bonus of being made in the U.S., Moose has put together a complete and ready to install seat that comes with a unique strap kit for securing cargo to the back of the seat. I’m impressed by the quality of craftsmanship and the choice of materials that went into its construction, and the fit and finish is impeccable.

Installation was a breeze, and when I first swung a leg over the bike I was amazed at how comfortable it was. The Moose seat is much wider than stock, which was immediately apparent as I was now more on my toes than before. I rolled out on a two-hour ride and the micro fiber seat top was not only comfortable, it allowed me to easily shift positions without sticking. The seat has a narrow taper towards the front, and the gripper side panels worked perfectly for standing up—helping to improve the feel and control of the bike when maneuvering off-road.

After an hour in the original seat, I felt the need to shift around to get comfortable. That was not the case with the new Moose Racing Adventure Seat. Between the high quality foam Moose uses and its wider profile, I felt like I could easily ride out the rest of the day.

When working with a fixed budget, where to spend your hard earned dollars when outfitting a bike is always a difficult decision. If you’re planning on doing any adventure touring, an upgraded seat can drastically improve your enjoyment of the ride—you’ll feel less fatigued at the end of the day, too. This seat is currently available for a wide variety of adventure bikes.
