Footpegs are almost always on the short list whether you’re in search of on-road comfort or off-road performance. IMS Products has long been a leader in the dirt bike world and now offers some top-shelf offerings for ADV riders as well.

IMS Rally Pegs: For the rider in search of pure off-road performance, the IMS Rally peg is targeted toward ultimate grip, with a cleated surface 2-1/4" x 4-5/8". The cleats are very sharp, with a goal of digging into the bottom of the boot when things get wet and dirty. With very high performance in technical conditions, I never slipped once when taking them off road. The overall size is about a third larger than the OEM pegs on the Triumph Tiger 800XC test mule, and slightly larger than Triumph OEM oversized aluminum pegs. Weight is only two ounces heavier than the OEM pegs but nearly double that of Triumph’s oversized perch.

IMS ADV I Pegs: Whereas the Rally pegs swing the needle hard right to the dirt side, the ADV I and ADV II pegs swing hard left toward the street rider and those who ride off road in street-biased foot gear. The IMS ADV I pegs are a massive 2-1/2" x 5-3/8" platform made of a whopping 1 lb. 4 oz. of stainless steel each. If that isn’t enough to get noticed, the pegs are powder-coated black and the sides polished to a chrome-like shine.

To get a true side by side comparison, I outfitted the test mule with one peg on either side and set out to get dirty and rack up some miles. When seated, whether on- or off-road, I felt little difference between the two. But once I was up on my feet they were noticeably different. The ADV I pegs offered wide, broad support and I felt almost no fatigue even after miles of dirt. The Rally pegs provided far more surface area than the OEM pegs but the decreased width was surprisingly noticeable when standing in street boots. However, once things got wet and muddy, the teeth all but glued me to the bike. It was also easier to shift weight on the pegs due to their smaller size.

Both pegs are very high performers and their names fit them well. Most ADV riders will likely prefer the ADV I or even the larger ADV II for riding, but those who are hard-core (and you know who you are) will certainly race to the Rally pegs. IMSProducts.com
