Mosko Moto’s Reckless 80L is a new take on the classic horseshoe-shaped pannier system. They’ve injected new life into this design with innovative ideas and remarkable quality. Mosko Moto is a small company based out of White Salmon, Washington, that still sells direct to consumers and relies heavily upon customer feedback when making and updating their designs. The R80L was one of the original products and is now in its second iteration.
New features on the Reckless 80L V2 include:
• Upgraded hardware and materials along with external armor panels
• Clear “windows” into the leg bags so you can see what’s inside (something I found very handy!)
• A fuel fill cut-out for rear fill bikes
• A modular harness replacing the one-piece V1 to facilitate easier repairs and packing for other types of travel
The modular design of the Reckless 80L makes it ideal for backcountry travel and motorcycle camping. In its simplest form the Reckless 80L is a horseshoe-shaped harness that fits over the tail end of your motorcycle (with or without racks). The three dry bag system is unique because the harness does not have to be disturbed to remove/install the individual bags. The harness is attached to the motorcycle with three adjustable straps behind the top bag and one adjustable strap on either side below the legs. The three dry bags are 100% waterproof and have traditional roll-top closures. Additionally, there are non-waterproof pockets on the back of each leg. MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) webbing on the top beavertail and front of each leg holster allows for customization and additional storage with the use of Mosko’s MOLLE storage pouches or any other MOLLE attachments.

My first trip with the R80L was a solo jaunt on the WABDR (Washington Backcountry Discovery Route) and it did not disappoint. I was amazed with my ability to carry all of the same gear while distributing the weight more logically. The leg bag design allowed for packing items like tools, spares, and camp kitchen lower and farther forward on the bike, making for a better ride.
The big advantage of the R80L is the ease of unloading and taking the dry bags with you off the bike. And the upper duffle has convenient backpack straps, too.
The R80L was right at home on the trail, staying tightly secured to my bike through all the rough terrain and challenges I threw at it. It also sustained a few good tumbles and one good slide on packed gravel with no significant signs of wear or damage. I can also vouch for the watertight integrity of these bags.
I think the Reckless 80L could be one of the best ADV luggage solutions available. It’s extremely versatile, being able to carry varying amounts of cargo, and fits almost any dual-sport you can think of (Mosko has a thorough list on their website). Also, it easily transfers from bike to bike and can be installed/uninstalled in just a few minutes.
The Reckless 80L is at the precipice of the soft luggage movement in our community for good reason. It does lack the security of lockable hard panniers and does not have the same “toss it in and go” accessibility but for actual off-road riding it has no equal.
