When a new version of a product comes along, inevitably someone will comment, “if it ain’t broke—don’t fix it.” Typically, I would agree, but the improvements that REV’IT! made to the new Sand 3 gloves are exemplary and undeniable.

The Sand 3 gloves are clearly from the “Sand” line of REV’IT! gear, following a similar design to the outgoing Sand Pro summer gloves. I spent the better part of a year and a half in the Sand Pro gloves, loving every mile with them, and the switch to Sand 3 gloves feels nothing short of natural. And, they’ll work for almost any kind ride in temperatures above 45°F.

A wide, vented TPR pad across the knuckles is supplemented by TPR on the fingers, thumbs, and another pad on the palm. These areas offer rubberized impact protection with superior airflow on hot summer days. The cuffs also have Temperfoam wrapped around the outside of each wrist for additional protection.

Fantastic dexterity, touchscreen fingertips, high airflow and an intuitive pull loop are just a few reasons why the REV'IT! Sand 3 gloves are so easy to live with.

Abrasion, the fraternal twin of impact, also warrants a slew of protective measures. Instead of just a goatskin leather palm, REV’IT! added a PWR Shield knit layer inside the leather. It’s not a simple liner, it’s sewn in with the seams, so there’s no bulky feel or strange folds that bunch up. Fingers also have outside stitching, so you don’t get uncomfortable hotspots during long days on the bike. I found the large gloves to fit true to size, offering excellent dexterity with just the right amount of snugness both out of the box and after breaking in.

There are three main changes from the outgoing Sand Pro model that make the REV’IT! Sand 3s even easier to appreciate. Instead of hanging onto the cuff to tug your gloves into place—which will stretch fabric and seams over time—there’s a small, red finger loop to pull them on. The Velcro pad on the cuff is now longer, for increased adjustability. And the addition of Connect touch screen leather at the finger and thumb tips makes using mobile electronics possible.

REV’IT! could have changed their entire design, instead they evolved the looks and made the right changes exactly where they were needed.
