Vemar brought two new offerings to display that tailor to the dual-sport and adventure touring crowd. The KONA is full-fledged ADV helmet, complete with windscreen, aerodynamic visor, and sunshield. It's based on the TAKU off-road helmet, which we can't stop raving about, especially for its price point. The SHARKI is a modular style helmet designed to be comfortable for long distance touring.

Honda brought their entire line-up to fill their massive display. Although no new bikes were announced at AIMExpo for 2018, leaked photos of a new Goldwing are being passed around the internet. Surprisingly, this year's event has presented more growth in electric and Chinese bikes for the dual-sport/ADV segment, than all of the major OEM's combined.
TwistedThrottle.com took over the media hub to present their impressive new CANsmart Plug-N-Play controller. Its designed to give its users a wide range of adjustability over their electronics. The system is designed for BMW R1200 LC-Series motorcycles features dozens of features, accessible through your pc. Two seperate light circuits allow independent adjustment of low and high beams, a first we've seen in the industry. the CANsmart Plug-N-Play controller is compatible with all DENALI brand lights.

One of our favorite bikes of the event is a perfectly restored original Goldwing. This particular model was a protype (the 2nd off the line) and has about 100 different parts compared to the full production model. Master motorcyle restorer Pete Boody spent about a year putting the GL together and fabricating parts. As far as he knows, there are only three of these prototypes still in existance.

The Benelli TRK 502 is at the beginning stages of passing EPA regulations. This 500cc parallel twin could fill a gap within the adventure bike market - a mid displacement twin cylinder with big bike looks at a competitive price point.
More from the 2017 AIMExpo:
Gear:
- NEXX replaces their popular XD1 dual sport helmet with two new helmets. The X.WED for the most part is an upgraded XD1 with better aerodynamics and revised interior. The X.WST is geared towards street riders that don't have a use for a peak visor.
- Shoei introduces a new dirt helmet, the VFX-EVO. The helmet features a Motion Distribution System that's designed to reduce rotational acceleration energy to the head during impact.
- TwistedThrottle.com displayed their new, feature packed DENALI 2.0 auxiliary lights with industry-leading TriOptic™ lens systems. We're big fans of of the original DENALI's, but the 2.0 systems are even more rugged, reliable, and versatile than before.
Bikes:
- Kawasaki surpised us by reviving the KLX250 with fuel injection. This sets up Team Green for a model line-up that's sure to please new riders into their sport adventure models. ADVMoto got a chance to chat with Kawasaki about the revised KLX. Read more about it by clicking here, and check out our interview with Kawi below!
- Hate it or love it, electric powered motorcycles are here to stay. The number of "engine-less" models seem to have doubled over the past year. A couple that have peaked our interest is three-wheeler manufacturer Doohan, and youth balance bikes created by STACYC.
We're just getting started at AIMExpo. Stay tuned for Day 2 covereage, coming soon!
