MachineartMoto, designers of specialized motorcycle products, have added fitment of KTM 1090 Adventure R, 1190 Adventure, and 1290 Super Adventure models to its line of ADVance Guard Multi-Functional Hand Guard applications.

The patented ADVance Guard design is designed to enable riders to adapt to a variety of weather conditions without using tools and is the most versatile hand guard solution available for adventure touring. With its KTM orange colored front Insert, the ADVance Guard looks beautifully integrated with KTM’s distinctive styling.

Features & Benefits

ADV and dual sport riders must adapt to a wide variety of environmental and weather conditions - from highway to single track, hot temperature in the dirt, warm air in the countryside, or driving rain and cold temperatures on the interstate. ADVance Guard incorporates an adjustable, sliding airflow Shield that increases front surface area 150% to allow easy adaptation to prevailing conditions and increase comfort without the need for tools. The ADVance design also enables removal of a snap-in plastic Insert at the front surface to provide full airflow in hot weather while retaining the wide protective frame.

ADVance Guard is an assembly of 3 main components:

1. The Aluminum Twin Spar Frame with an open front that mounts to the handlebar;
2. The Insert, which fills the open front when snapped in, or uncovers it when snapped out;
3. The Sliding Shield which is retained by both the Frame and Insert and is adjustable to low or high positions to enable riders to adapt to various weather conditions.

The wide Twin Spar Frame provides protection with or without the plastic Insert installed. Used without the Insert or Shield attached, the open center permits cooling air flow. The Frame mounts at the bar end with fasteners included in the Mounting Kit, and to the opposite end with a forged aluminum handlebar shaped to clear control cables for specific motorcycle models.

The Insert, colored to match KTM orange, is made of resilient injection molded polypropylene and easily snaps into the open window of the Frame. To remove it, one presses the back engagement tabs to release it from the Frame. Other colors available are Granite Grey or Black. The Sliding Shield can be adjusted by sliding up or down without using tools over a range of 50mm. Shield adjustments must made while the bike is stationary. In its extended state, total vertical coverage is 142mm. In its open front configuration, ADVance Guard's height is 100mm.
