gallery2Alaska’s expansive wilderness offers nearly infinite possibilities for adventurous riders who feel the urge to head off the beaten path. MotoQuest has created the Alaska Backcountry Explorer Adventure, scheduled for July 25th - August 2nd, 2014, to offer these riders the chance to band together and delve deep into the Alaskan wilderness on a combination of dirt roads, Jeep trails and ATV trails. This adventure offers unparalleled opportunity to see Alaska’s abundant wildlife up close, see majestic peaks like Mt. McKinley and experience the natural wonders of Alaska.

The journey begins in Anchorage with the traditional MotoQuest welcome dinner and orientation before setting out for Copper Center in the morning on the Glenn Highway, a National Scenic Byway that is rated as one of the top ten scenic byways in the US. Over the next two days in Copper Center, riders will be able to choose from a variety of outrides, including an all-paved ride down to the port city of Valdez, a trip through the mountains of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, investigating McCarthy and Kennicott copper mine, or exploring the first of many Jeep trails that lead into the Alaskan wilds.

After Copper Center, the group will strike north to Gracious House on the Susitna River on the Denali Highway, an unpaved route that follows the base of the Alaskan Range. The next two days will be spent exploring the local network of trails and backroads, and experiencing the real Alaska. The journey comes to a close with a 250 mile ride through the mountains from Gracious House back to Anchorage and a farewell dinner.

This itinerary is aimed at experienced riders who are looking for a challenging adventure, and an exciting way to improve their off-road riding abilities. Participants should be prepared for muddy and rocky roads, tame water crossings, narrow trails and other obstacles. The payoff is a world-class adventure in Alaska’s pristine wilderness, and friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. MotoQuest.com
