Venture into the unknown and join a group of adventure bike riders on a motorcycle mission deep into Laos to discover the intriguing and brutal history of the Ho Chi Minh trail. “One of the greatest achievements of military engineering of the 20th Century” according to the US National Security Agency’s Official History of War.

The Ho Chi Minh trail was a logistical system used during the Vietnamese war to transport supplies and troops from Northern Vietnam to the Viet Cong troops in the South. Contrary to popular belief (spread by tour companies within Vietnam), the trail did not actually run through Vietnam itself but instead ran down the eastern regions of neighbouring Laos and into Cambodia (where it later joined with the Sihanouk trail).

Now 50 years on, there still exists a network of trails, paths and roads over rugged mountains and through triple-canopy jungle. Old army bases and war remnants are still present on the trail, serving as a dark reminder of what happened on those very soils.

Amazing trail riding, authentic Cambodian & Laos culture, as well as a unique insight into the history of the Vietnam War await the adventurous bike rider who wishes to join a group of like-minded explorers.

Ride Expeditions have recruited the most experienced and knowledgeable guides in the country who will be travelling alongside the riders and explaining the historical relevance of every location they visit. Starting their journey in Cambodia, the group will make their way up to the final destination of Northern Laos… be one of the first to explore this new route with Ride Expeditions!

“We’re very excited to be expanding our operations into Laos,” says Toby Jacobs, managing director of Ride Expeditions. “This is a country we’ve been very eager to explore for a long time and we’re thrilled to have found expert guides that can join our team and help us create these new adventures. In a similar way to Cambodia, the history of Laos makes it an incredibly interesting place to travel and the dirt bikes enable us to reach those places that are inaccessible to other tourists.”
