It's finally time to bring adventure motorcycle charging systems up to speed, meeting modern standards of reliability and performance. RM Stator has done most of the work for you with their Universal MOSFET Voltage Regulator Rectifier kit. Not too long ago, many OEM manufacturers began using MOSFET regulator technology on their higher end models because of the many benefits they offer. MOSFET regulators can be used on any motorcycle with a single-phase (2 wire) or three-phase (3 wire) stator, and will run much cooler and more accurately regulate your battery voltage, significantly extending the life of your stator. The RM Stator Kit comes with everything you need for installation in one simple package, including new weatherproof sealed connectors, terminals, fuse holder, heat shrink tubing, wire, and detailed instructions. Make the change, and never worry about melted connectors, a burned up regulator, or overcharged battery ever again!

There are a lot of misconceptions on the internet about motorcycle voltage regulators, especially concerning your standard OEM regulator (often called "shunt" regulators) versus MOSFET units. To clarify, both the standard OEM regulator and MOSFET units do the same job, and are both "shunt" type regulators. This refers to how they regulate the battery voltage; when the battery is fully charged, the regulator shorts the stator windings to ground, shunting current away from the battery to be dissipated as heat. The difference is in how they do this!

Standard OEM shunt regulators use components called SCR's (Silicon Controlled Rectifiers) as the switch to shunt excess current away from the battery. Unfortunately they are inefficient and slow to open and close the circuit, making for imprecise regulation. They also generate an extreme amount of heat when they are shunting current. This results in a unit that is very inefficient, sensitive to engine heat and ambient air temperature, and can leave you stranded far from home with a dead or damaged battery!

MOSFET voltage regulators are named due to the components they use as the gate for shunting excess current. MOSFET's are a particular type of transistor, which operate as a precisely controlled and fast acting switch in this case. They are able to open and close extremely quickly, and generate much less heat when shunting current than the SCR's do when in use. The end result is much more accurate voltage regulation, stable battery voltage, long-term reliability, and extended stator life.

Upgrade your adventure bike's charging system today with a modern regulator, and say goodbye to worrying about dead batteries, melted connectors, and burned up stators.
