“Tales from South America isn’t just a travel book: I’m hoping to explore and share stories of real, everyday people and families I met on the road. On one hand, South America is an incredibly vibrant, modern and exciting continent. At the same time, it’s home to lost legends of vanished tribes, Patagonian ghost stories, Andean myths, and Caribbean melancholy. Tales from South America is a mix of the everyday, the curious, and the fantastical”. - Egle Gerulaityte.
Having spent eighteen months riding across Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, and Colombia with no previous motorcycling experience, Egle felt privileged to have experienced South America in such a raw and unfiltered way.
“My tiny 150cc motorcycle took a lot longer to get me over the Andean passes and across vast deserts, but looking back, I feel grateful for it now. It allowed me to stop and spend time with the local people, helping to shoe horses in the indigenous villages in the Peruvian Andes or peeling potatoes with Bolivian grandmothers listening to their stories”, - Egle explained.
